Our Objectives and Areas of Activity
The Turkish Small Animal Veterinary Association (TSAVA) operates in fields related to small animal veterinary medicine.
Our Association’s primary objectives are to contribute to the scientific and professional advancement of veterinary medicine, improve the quality of veterinary services in Türkiye, uphold the reputation and integrity of the profession, and strengthen solidarity among veterinarians.
To achieve these objectives, we advocate for our colleagues’ rights and support scientific research, continuing professional development, and national and international collaboration.
Our Objectives
- Contributing to the advancement of veterinary medicine — Supporting the scientific and professional advancement of veterinary medicine and helping improve the quality of veterinary services provided in Türkiye.
- Upholding the reputation and integrity of the profession — Protecting and strengthening the standing of the veterinary profession in society and promoting practice in accordance with ethical values and scientific principles.
- Advocating for veterinarians’ rights — Protecting the professional rights of veterinary practitioners and engaging with the relevant authorities and stakeholders to promote the development and enforcement of veterinary legislation.
- Combating unauthorised practice — Working to prevent individuals who are neither qualified nor legally authorised to practise veterinary medicine from performing procedures that fall within veterinarians’ professional remit.
- Supporting scientific research — Contributing to and supporting scientific research in the field of veterinary medicine.
- Strengthening professional solidarity — Fostering a strong professional environment among veterinarians based on goodwill, knowledge-sharing, solidarity and collective development.
- Informing the public — Providing the public with accurate, science-based information on veterinary medicine, animal health and preventive medicine, with due regard for public health.
- Supporting veterinary students — Contributing to the high-quality education and development of veterinary students and providing access to scholarships, internships, education, and social and cultural support opportunities in Türkiye and abroad.
Our Areas of Activity
In pursuit of our objectives, we:
- Organise national and international scientific congresses, symposia, seminars, courses, exhibitions and professional education programmes.
- Provide continuing professional development opportunities for our colleagues.
- Support scientific research and knowledge generation in veterinary medicine.
- Prepare and share professional journals, books, reports, guidelines and educational materials with our members.
- Participate in scientific events in Türkiye and abroad and bring international scientists and veterinary professionals together at our events.
- Create educational opportunities in Türkiye and abroad for veterinarians and veterinary students.
- Provide scholarships and educational, social and cultural support for veterinary students.
- Establish communication and collaboration with national and international professional organisations, become members of relevant bodies and, where appropriate, undertake their representation.
- Engage with the relevant authorities and stakeholders to protect veterinarians’ professional rights and contribute to the development of veterinary legislation.
- Carry out initiatives to provide the public with accurate information on veterinary medicine and public health.
