The Basic Hands-on Cytology Training, organised as part of the TSAVA Wet Lab Workshops, was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Fatih Bozkurt with the participation of approximately 25 colleagues.
The theoretical component covered the fundamental principles of cytology, sampling methods, cell morphology, identification of normal cells, staining techniques and slide quality. During the practical component, participants gained hands-on experience in smear preparation, slide quality control, artefact recognition and the evaluation of cytological samples from clinical cases.
With attendance intentionally limited, every participant was able to take an active role in the practical exercises and work through the microscopic evaluation process alongside the instructor.
Supported by Yeniçağ Veterinary Pharmaceuticals and Zoetis, the training equipped participants with essential cytology skills that can be applied directly in everyday clinical practice.
